The Rev. Nancy Van Dyke Platt, M.Div., M.T. (A.S.C.P.) is the member of the staff and Deacon assistant at Bishop Anderson House, an Episcopal agency that meets the chaplaincy needs of the University of Illinois, Cook County Hospital and other Chicago west side instituttions. She holds a fellowship in oncology granted by the Department of Religion and Health of the Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital.
The illustrative incidents recounted in this paper are taken from my personal records as a chaplain resident in clinical pastoral education training in hospitals in the Chicago area. N.V.P.
