Summary

We here report the first case of Burkitt-Lymphoma in Germany with positive serology. The serum of the patient showed precipitating antibodies against antigens derived from Burkitt cells, the antibody titer in the indirect fluorescence test with Burkitt tissue culture cells was 1:640. The cells showed a marked inhibition of protein synthesis in the absence of glutamine in the tissue culture medium. There was no inhibition in the absence of asparagine. The clinical features, the typical histology, the initially good response to chemotherapy, and the high anti-EBV antibody titer were consistent with the diagnosis Burkitt-Lymphoma. These findings are discussed, the current literature is reviewed.
