Summary

EC-2 A-se not only suppresses the transformation of PHA-stimulated human lymphocytes into blast like cells but also their destructive effect on HeLa cellsin vitro (cytoaggressive effect). The typical behaviour of the stimulated lymphocytes towards HeLa cells, however, remains unaffected by EC-2. It may be concluded thatin vitro this behaviour alone would not suffice to destroy the HeLa cells, or target cells more generally. Additional factors, being most probably suppressed by EC-2-Ase, seem necessary to bring about the cytoaggressive effect.
