Modification of the Debye-Waller factor of solid Helium due to short-range correlations

  • Published:
Zeitschrift für Physik A Hadrons and nuclei

Abstract

The Debye-Waller factor of solid3He and4He for both the bcc and the hcp phase is calculated using uncorrelated Gaussians multiplied with Jastrow functions to take the hard core into consideration. We get a correction of the coefficient of the usual harmonic exponent of the Debye-Waller factor which is quadratic in the momentum of about 30%. The coefficient of the next term which is of the fourth power in the momentum is negligible.
