Summary

Seventy-four of 83 stylet tracks, and 20 of 22 pairs of stylets of the aphid,Rhopalosiphum maidis were observed terminating in abaxial phloem of matureCucurbita maxima leaves. These results indicate that the abaxial phloem is more important in vein loading and the export of assimilates from mature leaves than the adaxial phloem.
