Zusammenfassung
-
1.
Summary
-
1.
The adsorption and the eclipse phase of ectromelia virus was investigated on monolayer cultures of embryonic mouse fibroblasts.
-
2.
The determination of the dynamics of the virus adsorption showed a good agreement with the probability given by the Poisson equation.
-
3.
The quantity of infectious virus bound on the cells increased in the process of adsorption, but it was of minor significance during the initial phase of the infection. Elution processes could be observed.
-
4.
Even 30 minutes after the infection, the greater part of the virus had entered the eclipse phase. The relation of the quantity of virus which has entered into the eclipse to the inoculation dosis was constant over a wide range of dosage.
-
5.
The thermo-inactivation had no important influence on the process of the initial phase of the infection.
