Summary
-
1.
Polymerization reactions were carried out with anhydrides of -carboxygiycine and N-carbcxy-DL-alanine, and the 2,5-piperazinediones present in the polymerization products were determined quantitatively.
-
2.
A hypothesis is advanced concerning the mechanism of the polymerization reaction of anhydrides of α-carbosyarmino acids; it accounts for the formation of 2,5-piperazinc diones.
