Summary
The tac promoter originally constructed for the use inEscherichia coli was fused to an endoglucanase structural gene isolated fromBacillus subtilis and the expression of the chimeric gene inB. subtilis was observed. The tac promoter-controlled gene expressed well inB. subtilis and produced endoglucanase during the exponential growth phase.
