Summary
Five normal human kidneys were examined to clear the problem whether or not an intercapillary connective tissue in the glomeruli exists. Serial sections of 2 to 3μ mainly stained by Foot's reagent modified byJones were used.
There is a perivascular tissue between the vessels of the glomerular hilus covered by the visceral layer ofBowman's capsule. It spreads from the glomerulum-pole to the first ramifications of the vessels.
Structures in the centre and in the periphery of the glomerulum appear to be an intercapillary tissue. In several places we could find a continuous connection between those regions and the perivascular tissue of the pole-vessels; in other glomerular districts, however, we could not decide whether these structures represent connective tissue or endothelial cytoplasm.
