Fluoroindenes Communication 9. Preparation of brominated polyfluoroindenes and their reaction with oleum

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    1,1,3-Tribromopentafluoro- and 1,1,2,3-tetrabromotetrafluoroindene have been obtained from perfluoroindene and AlBr3.

  2. 2.

    1,1,3,3-Tetrabromohexafluoroindane and 1,1,2,3-tetrabromotetrafluoroindene have been obtained from perfluoroindane and AlBr3. 1,1,2,3-Tetrabromopolyfluoroindenes are also obtained by treating other polyfluoroindanes with excess AlBr3.

  3. 3.

    Hydrolysis of the product of the reaction of 1,1,2,3-tetrabrotnotetrafluoroindene with SbF5 has given 2,3-dibromotetrafluoroindenone.

  4. 4.

    Reaction of 1,1,2,3-tetrabromopolyfluoroindenes with 20% oleum, and of 2,3-dibromotetraf luoroindenone with oleum in the presence of Br2, has given the corresponding 2,2-dibromopolyfluoroindane-1,3-diones.
