Mechanism of rapid Z, E isomerization of indolylnitroacrylic ester in polar solvents

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The dynamic NMR spectroscopy method was used to determine the thermodynamic parameters of the rapid Z, E isomerization of theβ-indolyl-substitutedα-nitroacrylic ester in CH3CN.

  2. 2.

    A mechanism was proposed for the Z, E isomerization of indolylnitroacrylic esters in polar solvents, which proceeds with the intermediate formation of the mesomeric anion and the ionization of the N-H bond as the limiting step of the process.
