Cyclic 1,3-diketones like cyclopentane-1,3-dione, cyclohexane-1,3-dione, and 5,5-dimethylcyclohexane-1,3-dione react with 1,8-diaminonaphthalene to afford new condensed heterocyclic spiro systems.
