Conclusions
-
1.
We examined the microstructure of the MLT molybdenum alloy in the recrystallized and nitrided conditions after creep tests at 1000–1400°.
-
2.
Deformation of the recrystallized molybdenum occurs by means of slip within the grains and plasticity of the boundary areas.
-
3.
Deformation of the nitrided material occurs without visible branching or straight slip traces in the grains and is due to plasticity in the boundary areas.
-
4.
Both the nitrided and unnitrided material fails in the grain boundaries in creep tests.
