Stability of elastic, cylindrical shells via Liapunov's second method

Summary

In this paper, Liapunov's Second Method in the version of Movchan, Knops, and Wilkes is applied to the stability problem of the circular, cylindrical shell with fixed ends. For a fairly general and practically important loading condition it is shown that certain conditions with regard to the load intensity and to the magnitude of damping warrant stability in the sense of a general norm. In the case of axisymmetric loading, which occurs for example in a silo, the stability is a uniform, pointwise one concerning the deflection.

Übersicht

In dieser Arbeit wird Liapunovs Zweite Methode in der Fassung von Movchan, Knops und Wilkes auf das Stabilitätsproblem der Kreiszylinderschale mit festgehaltenen Enden angewendet. Für eine recht allgemeine und praktisch wichtige Belastungsannahme wird gezeigt, daß gewisse Bedingungen hinsichtlich der Lastintensität und der Größe des Dämpfungsfaktors Stabilität im Sinne einer allgemeinen Norm garantieren. Im Fall einer axialsymmetrischen Belastung, die z. B. in einem Silo vorkommt, liegt hinsichtlich der Auslenkung der Schalenmittelfläche sogar eine gleichmäßig punktweise Stabilität vor.
