Summary
In Ultra-thin-sections of 3 Morphea-patients the following findings were seen:
-
1.
Endothelial thickening of the capillaries, raised number of endothelial cells with more embeddings similar to leio-myo-filaments.
-
2.
Thickening of the basal membrane of epidermis, vessels and nerves.
-
3.
Neofibrillogenesis and preparation of the ground substance especially by fibroblasts.
-
4.
Secondary involvement of the epidermal system.
In our view these findings are a hint to the essential character of the neurovascular origin of the changed proportion of collagen-fractions as to be found in scleroderma.
