Summary

N-methylene bridges in amino resin oligocondensation products can be determined with sufficient reliability by a selective polarographic method. By investigating the mechanism of the electrochemical reaction the methylene bridges were found to cause a catalytic hydrogen wave which, due to its proportionality to the concentration, provides the basis for the analytical determination. The results obtained with aniline, urea, hexahydrotriazine and acrylamide support this mechanism and suggest further possibilities of application of this method.
