Summary
A simple trap of silver capillary tubing is used to collect gas-chromatographic fractions which are co-condensed with carbon disulphide into a tiny glass vessel and subsequently injected into an infrared microcavity cell. The method is suitable for compounds with boiling points between 35 and 250°C; the upper b.p. limit for compounds containing a polar group is, however, 220°C.
