Value of angio-tomography in planning operative treatment of internal carotid artery aneurysms

Summary

The angio-tomographic method has been applied to the study of 23 internal carotid artery aneurysms, following standard cerebral angiography and its interpretation. Angio-tomography gives additional diagnostic information of special value in those situations where the anatomy is nuclear and when smaller arteries supplying encephalic area of vital importance may be compromised. The technique gives precise information of the size, shape, development, orientation and mode of implantation of the aneurysm, thus substantially enhancing the diagnostic evaluation of the standard angiographic examination.

Résumé

L'angiotomographie fut utilisée pour l'étude de 23 anévrysmes de la carotide interne, faisant suite à l'angiographie cérébrale conventionnelle et à son interprètation. L'angiotomographie apporte des informations diagnostiques supplémentaires particulièrement importantes lorsque la disposition anatomique n'est pas très claire et lorsque de petites artères vitales alimentant la région cérébrale, semblent compromises. Cette technique donne des informations précises sur la taille, la forme, le développment, l'orientation et le mode d'implantation de l'anévrysme, renforcant remarquablement l'évaluation diagnostique de l'angiographie conventionnelle.

Zusammenfassung

23 Fälle von Carotis interna-Aneurysmen, die mit der Angio-Tomographie untersucht wurden. Diese angio-Tomographie gibt zusätzliche diagnostische Informationen und zeigt ihren besonderen Wert bei Aneurysmen, deren Gefäß-Abgangsstellen nicht sicher zu übersehen sind.
