The value of transvenous Xero-arteriography in plastic surgery

Summary

Transvenous Xero-arteriography is a new angiographic technique, which allows radiographic visualization of small peripheral vessels following intravenous injection of contrast material into an arm vein. The principles of this method are based on the edge enhancement effect in electrostatic imaging. In cases of compound muscle-skin flaps the vascular pattern of the recipient and donor areas were examined by Transvenous Xero-Arteriography. The demonstration of those soft tissue vessels facilitates planning of microvascular free transplantation of myocutaneous flaps.
