Abstract

The restoration of palaeobathymetry is always a difficult problem in the analysis of sedimentary environment. Based on the investigation of previous research methods of palaeobathymetry at home and abroad, this paper analyzes four research methods of palaeobathymetry: 1) determine the paleodepth of water qualitatively according to the sedimentary characteristics; 2) determine the water depth qualitatively based on the characteristics and diversity of paleontological fossils; 3) geochemical quantitative recovery method based on Fe, Co, Mn, Th and U; 4) quantitative restoration of paleodepth of water based on gamma ray spectrometry logging; The restoration of paleo depth of water plays an important role in the study of sequence stratigraphic division, lithofacies paleogeographic evolution, reservoir distribution, and enrichment and distribution characteristics for source rocks. Quantitative restoration of paleobathymetry is the direction of future research.
