Abstract
We are interested in developing a language shift model in the case of Algeria using two-dimensional cellular automata. Our model takes into account four languages: Amazigh, Arabic, French and English. We use a particular coding of cell states in order to measure the social pressure toward the use of English or Amazigh language. In this paper, we detail the model and give some insights into its dynamical properties.
