Abstract
Gallbladder cancer is a rare gastrointestinal malignancy having a poor prognosis because of its late presentation of disease, early invasion, and lack of effective systemic therapy. Surgical extirpation with negative margins remains the only chance for cure in patients with gallbladder cancer. Despite the best attempts at curative resection, a majority of patients with GBC usually recur. Therefore, effective adjuvant therapies are needed to decrease disease recurrence and to improve survival. Recurrence following surgery is a major barrier to providing long-term survival in patients with GBC. The use of adjuvant therapy has been found to be effective through various clinical trials. In the present chapter, we have discussed the data on adjuvant treatment of GBC and explore therapeutic methods for the patients in the adjuvant setting.
