Zusammenfassung
In diesem Kapitel wird argumentiert, dass der jahrzehntelange „krude Antiimperialismus“ des chinesischen und des Hongkonger Regimes nicht zu einem dekolonisierten Hongkong geführt hat. Stattdessen hat er Strukturen der Ungleichheit reproduziert, die Herrschaft und Ausbeutung weiterhin aufrechterhalten. Demgegenüber schlage ich ein Verständnis von Dekolonisierung als egalitärer Transformation vor, das auf einer umfassenderen Lesart der antikolonialen Tradition beruht. Diese Vision einer dekolonisierten Gesellschaft hat wichtige Auswirkungen auf den demokratischen Kampf in Hongkong. Zwar bewegten sich bestimmte Praktiken und Regelungen, die aus der Anti-ELAB-Bewegung (Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill) hervorgingen, in Richtung dieser Vision. Aber es gab auch bedeutende Entwicklungen, die, wenn sie unkontrolliert bleiben, ihre Verwirklichung auf lange Sicht untergraben könnten.
