Abstract
The socially responsible sports consumption is an inevitable responsibility of sports organizations from the micro-level to the macro-level. The sustainability of this practice is a critical issue and critics have raised issues on the governance of sports organizations. The sports organizations of a country have to focus on achieving goals and implementing meaningful long-term strategies to create ‘socially responsible sports consumption’.
The sport organizational Good Governance is an essential condition for sport movement, and the governing bodies arrange the services and products in a socially responsible format. It is necessary for the National Sports Federations (NFs) to create a bond between Good Governance and socially responsible consumption in order for both of the functions to work together. In order to this phenomenon, NFs minimize the corruption, improve accountability, effectively decentralize public resources managed properly, introduce right laws and equivalence policy, and provide efficient provision. The responsible consumption defines good business practices and the protection of close to hearts of the serving community by allowing consumption with number of various interlinked powerful parting points.
The study is focused on assessing the performance of National Sport Federations (NFs) in Sri Lanka by analysing their performance in relevance to Good Governance, current priorities and practices, and priorities for future interventions. The transparency, integrity, democracy, sports development practices, and solidarity and control mechanisms were studied. The study segment represents four national-level NFs selected for the study based on the legendry Olympic Games representation by Sri Lanka.
