Abstract

This study discusses Eddy Current Brake (ECB) by using electromagnet as the source of magnetism. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between braking torque and variations in the number of half-circle slots on ECB. The method applied in this study was the Finite Element Method (FEM), where the simulated ECB modeling was varied by 10, 20, and 30 slots using a change in the number of electromagnetic field sources. The results of this study obtained a description of the braking torque with the largest value in the variation of 10 slots using four electromagnets, namely, 59.18 Nm.
