Abstract
Quality in Education is the need of the hour, and it is only possible with the efforts of competent and qualified teachers. The quality of a teacher is increasingly seen as an imperative for meeting the ever-changing educational needs and demands of knowledge-based society in the era of globalization. Therefore, teacher education has gained utmost importance in the quality education moment across the globe. This paper highlights the need and importance of quality teacher education programmes by taking into the consideration of the different perspectives of teacher preparation programmes.
