Abstract

The chapter aims to assess the potential for energy efficiency improvement and identify high-impact technologies in selected sectors in China, including power, industrial, building, and transportation sectors, thereby facilitating the dissemination of best practices and successful stories. First, current energy consumption and energy efficiency development are reviewed, and selecting criteria and potential technologies of energy efficiency are proposed. Second, energy efficiency technologies with high-impact opportunities are overviewed by sector, and the technical description, energy-saving potential, carbon dioxide (CO2) emission reduction, and air pollutants emission reduction of each proposed technology are discussed in detail. Finally, conclusions and policy recommendations are put forward.
