Abstract

In this paper, a low-noise amplifier (LNA) is designed using Agilent’s advanced design software (ADS). Noise is reduced by LNA at all the successive stages. Thus, it is essential for an LNA to boost the desired signal power while adding distortion and little noise as possible so that retrieval of signal is possible in further stages in the RF receiver. The simultaneous requirement of maximum gain with minimum noise figure (NF), stability, good input and output matching should be considered in LNA design. The paper presents LNA designed at 15 GHz with maximum simulated gain 17.877 dB, forward voltage gain 7.654 dB and noise Fig. 3.869 dB obtained.
