This geopark is located in southern Wuyuan County, Hebei Province, and it includes the source of the Jumayuan Spring and Baishi Mountain in Liyuan County. It has a total area of 60 km2, and it became a national geopark in 2002. It is characterised by landforms formed by the Baishishan dolomite marble, which was named the ‘Shilin-style (Taifeng) Stone Forest Landscape’. The park also contains the Shipuxia rich granite landscape and geological relics of the waterfalls and the Jumayuan Spring Formation. The Baishishan dolostone marble was baked by hot lava and metamorphism. The upper dolomite caprock formed in a marine environment one billion years ago. The deformation of the dolomite created more than two sets of vertical joints. Weathering allowed expansion of the joints to form columnar peaks with towering pillars, creating a ‘white stone mountain landscape’.
