Introduction
Nonlinear pedagogy focuses on the inherent complexity involved in the process of learning by viewing the learner, the environment in which the learner is situated, and the teacher as key components of a complex interacting system. Task constraints imposed by the individual learning tasks provide the platform for functional learning to emerge. By being sensitive to the way constraints are set for guiding discovery, nonlinear pedagogy becomes a pedagogical framework which serves to promote greater self-regulating autonomy, competency, and relatedness in learning. Specifically, nonlinear pedagogy provides principles of practice for teachers, educators, and coaches that can be used to design learning tasks specifically for each individual.
Where Does the Term Nonlinear Pedagogy Come From?
The term nonlinear pedagogy emanates from the fields of ecological psychology and dynamical systems theory. Ecological dynamics provides an underpinning theory of human behavior that...
