Abstract

This chapter is a curtain raiser that highlights the importance of ICT and ICT-powered innovation. It describes the nature of changes and the different ways in which ICT landscape is changing. In turn ICT has become a powerful tool for innovation and transformation in the industry. This is the theme of the book. For this purpose, the cumulative experiences of authors, along with those of the leaders in the industry, are referred to/discussed, especially when dealing with the current state of the industry, and how to use it for innovation. The propositions arising from this discussion are corroborated by research, literature, industry, and media as well. Such an approach will clearly illustrate the utility of the frameworks and concepts, especially to best leverage ICT in a simple and clear manner.
