Abstract

Hysteroscopy is now the most common as well as the most important intervention that gynecologists undertake in the operating room. Though seemingly a simple and short-duration procedure, hysteroscopy has its own share of complexities and problems, including the indication for hysteroscopy and associated morbid patient factors, the influence of implications arising out of applied technical/operative intricacies of the operation, etc. The management of anesthesia for hysteroscopy is considered in light of quality and safety of overall care delivery and presented in sync with generic/specific subset of gynecological circumstances of patients. The essentials of anesthesia managment in tandem with nuances of hysteroscopy procedure are elucidated, especially those relating to patient preparation, choice of anesthesia and the anticipated adversities, and the ways to identify and manage complications of hysteroscopy and, in the end, handle patients’ recovery and hospital discharge.
