Abstract

In this paper, an improved rectangular patch antenna with L-shaped slot in the ground plane with rotated patch, fed by a microstrip line, is reported. The rotated patch has been chamfered at the top edges, which leads to an improvement in efficiency. This antenna design provides better return loss characteristics in 3.1–10.6 GHz bands, making it a suitable candidate for UWB systems. The antenna is implemented in FR4 substrate, and it is found that the measured results and the simulated results are in good agreement.
