Abstract

Plant growth regulators (PGRs) are important factors in the clonal propagation of many woody perennials. Principles involving the utility of exogenously applied PGRs are not always clearly understood. The qualitative reasoning, process control and optimization of methods using PGRs are related to a signal-theory model describing the dynamic behavior of metabolic networks and physiological states as explants Proceed to discrete developmental outcomes. Algorithms that emerge from this reasoning are sought as criteria in attempts to capture genetic gains through true-totype clonal products and in identifying when, where and how aberrations arise.
