Mutual Events of the Saturnian Satellites: A Test of the Dynamical Models

  • Conference paper
Dynamics of Natural and Artificial Celestial Bodies

Abstract

In this paper, we use very accurate astrometric observations of the major satellites of Saturn in order to evaluate the quality of the theoretical models of their motions. The use of the mutual events allows this analysis and it appears that the most recent and complete dynamical models have similar external precision than the old ones. This may be due to the method of reduction of the data used in the fit of the constants of these models.
