Abstract

The agriculture of the northeast region of India has lagged far behind the developed states of the country. There is a multitude of factors responsible for this deplorable state. Reflecting on the present status, this chapter discusses crops and cropping patterns, strategy for cropping patterns, cropping patterns for flood prone areas, and intensive cropping systems.
