Abstract
During the ensuing weeks, as the two frigates passed through various island groups, the occasions for botanizing were no more. All attention became concentrated on the search for La Pérouse. After exploring the reefs northwest of New Caledonia for four days, Entrecasteaux broke away on 13 May 1793 and set a course for Santa Cruz Island, also called Nendo Island, the largest in the Santa Cruz group.
