Abstract
The study of the content, distribution, and kinematics of the H I in M31 has led to a great deal of important understanding about the galaxy. This chapter concentrates on the question of the location and morphology of the hydrogen gas, while the vast amount of information that comes from the measurements of the velocities of the gas are discussed in Chapter 7.
