Abstract
The possible worlds analysis of epistemic notions derives particular interest from the insight it gives into the logic of questions. It is easy to give indirect question complements of ‘know’ simple and revealing analyses in the language of Hintikka’s epistemic logic.1 Consider the paradigmatic question types below:
-
(1)
A knows whether he won (or not).
-
(2)
A knows whether he (won) or B (won) or C won.
-
(3)
A knows who won.
-
(4)
A knows who wants tea and who wants coffee.
-
(5)
A knows who wants what.
