Abstract

Ever since the appearance of Neugebauer’s work, about 100 years ago, much has been written on the subject of ‘spondylolisthesis’ and ‘spondylolysis’. In spite of this, there is still no universally accepted explanation regarding the aetiology of spondylolysis, that is, the occasionally observed separation of the bone structure in the isthmus of the neural arch, and several questions have still remained unanswered.
