Abstract
There is much evidence from epidemiological studies,1 in vitro studies,2 and animal experiments3 that vitamin A and the retinoids reduce the probabability of cutaneous neoplasia. Furthermore, there are also reports suggesting that these drugs have an anti-neoplastic action as well. Basal cell carcinomata have been treated with moderate success with isotretinoin4 and etretinate.5 Multiple keratoacanthomata have been suppressed by isotretinoin,6 and encouraging results in the treatment of multiple solar keratoses have been reported.7
