Abstract

In the search for differentiating criteria for good and poor prognosis in schizophrenia, sociodemographic characteristics have received wide currency, particularly before the use of psychotropic drugs. However, age, education, occupation, work history, and marital status have continued to maintain a relevant and allegedly meaningful prognostic status. Let’s see to what extent these assumptions are still valid.

The research results presented in this chapter have appeared in the following article: Serban, G., and Gidynski, C.B.: Significance of social-demographic data for rehospitalization of schizophrenic patients. J. Health Social Behavior 15: 117-126, 1914(34).
