Abstract
This paper presents evidence in support of the existence of a mechanism responsible for variations of the solar global parameters, in particular the luminosity, as a consequence of variations of the internal magnetic fields due to the solar dynamo. A numerical code capable of modeling these effects is described, and exploratory calculations are presented. We conclude that solar variability of climatic consequence can only be studied on the basis of the observations of all the solar global parameters, including oscillations, and with a stellar structure and evolution code which includes the effects of magnetic fields and departures from thermal equilibrium.
