Water self-diffusion in plant tissue under action of cytochalasin B after water stress. Data of NMR method

  • Chapter
Spectroscopy of Biological Molecules: New Directions

Abstract

The NMR method is successfully used for the study of water self-diffusion in living tissues [1, 2]. At present the texture of plant cell plasmodesmata joining the cytoplasmic spaces and vacuoles of the neighboring cells is established [3]. Such plasmodesmata structure allows to introduce the notion of vacuolar and cytoplasmic symplast and to distinguish in plant tissues the pathways separated from each other by membranes for water free diffusion: through apoplast and vacuolar and cytoplasmic symplasts.
