Abstract

This section provides a general discussion of the roll-forming process and highlights some aspects of this production process which need to be considered, in order to successfully apply it to continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRT) materials. The text begins with a brief explanation of the roll forming process, followed by a description of CFRT material properties that make their formability unique with a focus on some important deformation parameters. It is intended that by carefully considering the various aspects of roll forming outlined in this section, a good understanding of the technology should be obtained.
