Abstract

Madame de Staël left Coppet with Albertine, Rocca and Schlegel, and stopped off for about two weeks in Lausanne. She was on her way to Rome via Italy, to obtain the papal dispense to be able to have her daughter married in Pisa to the Duke of Broglie, a Catholic. She also hoped Rocca’s health would improve.
