Abstract
Woodland vegetation of Veneto has been framed into a preliminary forest typology, based on phytosociological classification, for management purposes. The result was a subdivision in units (Categories, Types, Subtypes and Variants) similar in terms of their floristic, ecological and silvicultural characters.
Floristic (index species for Type classification) and ecological description, information on potential dynamic trend of vegetation and proposed forest management are given for each main unit (Type).
The work has been financed by the Veneto Region Forest Department.
