Abstract
As one of his first measures, the new General Secretary, Donald Sadler, introduced the IAU Information Bulletin in its present form. Previously, the Secretariat had issued general information in IAU Circulars [1]. New running numbers were used: No.1 appeared in June 1959, No.2 in November 1959 (with attached a “Provisional List of IAU Publications”), Nos 3 and 4 in 1960, Nos 5, 6, 7 in 1961, Nos 8 and 9 in 1962, etc. (No.25 in December 1970, No.50 in June 1983.) Henceforth, they would appear more or less regularly half way and at the end of the year; thus, Secretary Sadler and his successors kept the astronomical community well informed on IAU matters. In June, 1969 Information Bulletin No.22 appeared with golden 50th IAU-Anniversary title.
