Abstract
As already pointed out by Lüst (1962), the study of comets is one way to obtain information about interplanetary matter (plasma and dust) and more generally, one may say that their random position in space permits their use as test-objects for approaching some aspects of solar activity. Unfortunately, our knowledge of cometary physics is far from being complete and the study of quite a few problems needs to be deepened or even, in some cases, simply undertaken. Of course, a lot of problems could be solved by an adequate comet probe; Swings (1962ab) has already reviewed this subject in different papers. At the present time, a group of workers at Liege are trying to contribute to the understanding of several of these problems.
