Abstract

Earthworms are capable of vertical migration in the soil which is frequently the result of temperature difference in the soil (Satchell, 1967). Most soil-dwelling invertebrates exhibit a preference temperature (Wallwork, 1960; Madge, 1969; Edwards, 1961) but live and reproduce at other temperatures, depending upon the availability of soil moisture.
